25. Budapest Wine Festival

As the largest wine event of Central and Eastern Europe, located in the gorgeous historical Buda Castle, the Budapest Wine Festival from the 8-11 September is a tasting ground for the best of the crop Hungarian winemakers can offer. Besides local items guests have a chance to taste some exciting foreign wines too.

The Budapest Wine Festival lasts for 4 days at a gorgeous historical site offering thousands of wines, a rich cultural program, entertainment and experience - not only for the wine enthusiast.

Guests can submerge into a plethora of CULTURAL AND MUSICAL PROGRAMS on all four days of the festival. The main stage of the Wine Festival hosts close to 50 acts, among others the best Hungarian representatives of world music, folk music and folk dance, and jazz.

The central event of the Wine Festival is the spectacular and incomparable HARVEST PROCESSION - FOLK MUSIC AND FOLK DANCE GALA commemorating the customs and habits of traditional harvest fiestas. The procession is formed by heritage and folk dance groups dressed in their ancient folk wear arriving from all major wine regions of Hungary, by wine orders and by members of civil fellowships of wine lovers. Tourists with cameras are of course more than welcome to join the procession!

Like in every year, the Wine Festival will welcome its guests also in 2016 with a wide variety of GASTRONOMIC TREATS based on quality food of the Hungarian countryside and on the flavors of the festival's Guest Country. Old recipes rejuvenated, artisan and traditional products together with contemporary bistro cuisine at the same time, in the same place in the Buda Castle. Hand-drawn strudel, "lángos" (Flammkuchen) from the oven, classic "kürtőskalács" (chimney cake), vine-grower's roast, specialties made of Mangalica pork, Hungarian, French, Spanish sheep, goat and cow cheese, ham, jamón, and jambon, and home made smoked snacks will please your tasting buds.
